| I, Feilexter did not make or endose this video, i just like it so i bookmarked it. Doom 64 (N64) This video was captured using the actual game on an actual Nintendo 64. Yes yes yes! It's Doom AGAIN! There can never be too much Doom. This here is the legendary Doom 64. An all new installment of Doom for console only so respected that it got a fan made total conversion on the PC called Doom: The Absolution. This version was pretty much a reboot of the series as there are many things about this Doom that are different than Doom 1 and 2. The mug shot dash display has been totally removed and replaced with a more simple Half-Life style display. The graphics had been modernized to fit the times and the music and sound have been totally revamped as well. The weapon sound have been adopted from the Playstation version and so has same the music style. The game also screams at 60 frames per second vs. the original 24 frames per second. The Nintendo 64 featured bi-linear filtering and anti-aliasing which made the visuals smooth so enemies and wall textures do not pixelate when up close and the jagged edges are kept to a minimum. Funny thing is when the game came out, it didn't really review well with the professional reviewers. It got dogged for the enemies still being sprite based along with having 2 to 3 frame animation. Also believe it or not it was no longer cool to think Doom was cool. It was also dogged for being the same old Doom. A mindless run n' gun first person shooter. Those reviewers could not have been more wrong. This game is just as much of a classic as the <b>...</b> |
